Project Engineer UK&I

We have a great opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our ACS Team in Sutton Weaver. This role supports significant client demand and strategic partnerships for our Auto Coding Solutions. You will manage customer communications, lead project activity, install hardware on customer sites, support end‑users, work with integrators, and conduct site training. The role involves deploying software and configuring systems remotely via VPN and on client sites throughout the UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate workload and tasks with the Project Manager and Team Scheduler.
* Act as onsite project lead, coordinating activities and communicating project tasks.
* Utilise software, electrical and mechanical skills to install, troubleshoot and support end‑to‑end solutions efficiently.
* Configure hardware devices such as HMIs, PCs, PLCs, barcode scanners, vision equipment and industrial coders.
* Diagnose Ethernet and RS232 faults using electrical and software skills.
* Conduct customer training from basic line operation to full system training.
* Communicate and lead discussions with a wide customer audience.
* Integrate line‑side solutions with ERP/MES type systems.
* Perform project analysis, including packaging, hardware and system implementation surveys.
* Escalate issues through defined channels when necessary.
* Keep all project tracking systems updated and aligned with workload.
Required Skills & Experience
* At least 5 years of experience in an engineering role.
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 in a relevant electrical discipline.
* Minimum HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Demonstrated mechanical skills.
* Strong appetite to learn and use our own software and third‑party systems.
* Innovative problem‑solving approach with knowledge sharing across the team.
* Basic understanding of TCP/IP networks.
* Ability to prioritise issues and escalated when necessary.
* End‑user and project team training skills.
* Excellent client‑facing skills.
* Full UK passport and UK driving licence.
Nice to Have
* Knowledge of Microsoft SQL tools (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS).
* Experience with industrial devices and communication protocols.
* Experience with project management philosophies such as Prince2 or Agile.
* PLC skills – Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens.
* Understanding of vision devices such as Sick, Cognex, Omron.
