Overview
Night role focused on vigilance and reassurance at our residential children\'s home in Eastbourne. The children have autism, ADHD, epilepsy, severe learning disabilities, and complex communication needs. Some are non-verbal or use PECS or Makaton; all require close supervision.
Responsibilities
* Support young people with autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities.
* Respond to behaviours including spitting, hitting, hair pulling, or self-harm with calm professionalism.
* Provide personal care and hygiene support when required.
* Monitor epilepsy and respond appropriately to medical needs.
* Use non-verbal communication tools where needed (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or visual supports).
* Carry out safety checks and record all night events.
* Handover clearly to the day team.
* Drive young people in and out of the community for emergencies or appointments.
Qualifications and requirements
* Experience in autism, ADHD, epilepsy, and severe learning disabilities.
* Previous experience working night shifts.
* Training or willingness to train in ligature, self-harm, epilepsy, and Team Teach.
* Skilled in using PECS, Makaton, or visual supports.
* Compassionate and trauma-informed, even when faced with challenging behaviours.
* Physically fit and reliable during long night shifts.
* Patient, consistent, and observant.
* Full and clean UK driving licence.
