Night Shift Team Leader – Supported Living
Newtownabbey | Permanent | Night Shifts | Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits
MPA Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a respected supported living provider for a Night Shift Team Leader in Newtownabbey.
This is a key leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on responsibility, brings calm authority to their work, and wants to make a difference during the quietest – yet often most crucial – hours of the day.
As Team Leader, you’ll be the most senior person on-site during the night shift, responsible for overseeing care delivery, safeguarding the wellbeing of residents, and guiding the team with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Leading the night support team to deliver safe, person-centred care in line with best practice and regulatory standards
* Providing on-the-ground leadership: supervising staff, managing incidents, and ensuring documentation is accurate and timely
* Acting as a role model for calm, empathetic, and professional practice – especially in high-pressure or complex situations
* Ensuring the continuity of support plans, behavioural strategies, and wellbeing initiatives throughout the night
* Liaising with management and external professionals as needed, and contributing to the ongoing development of the service
What Sets This Role Apart:
Unlike Night Support Workers, you’ll take the lead in shaping the overnight culture and performance of the team, making key decisions, and ensuring compliance and continuity when senior day staff are off-site.
You will play a pivotal role in mentoring colleagues, modelling high standards, and maintaining a therapeutic, person-first environment.
What You’ll Bring:
* Previous experience working with adults with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs
* Proven ability to lead or supervise others in a social care or health setting
* Confidence in decision-making and strong communication skills – especially during lone working or emergency situations
* A calm, proactive, and structured approach to problem-solving
* Flexibility to work a range of night shifts, including weekends and holidays
Essential Criteria:
* Willingness to work flexible shifts including nights, sleep-ins, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
* Full driving licence and access to a car (reasonable adjustments considered)
* One of the following qualifications:
1. Social Work qualification + NISCC registered (or eligible)
2. Registered Nurse (NMC)
3. Occupational Therapist (HCPC)
4. Relevant degree (e.g. Psychology, Social Care) + NISCC registered (or eligible)
5. NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care (or equivalent) + NISCC registered (or eligible)
* At least 1 year’s experience in a social care setting
* Demonstrable experience motivating or mentoring others
* Confidence in managing service user finances and liaising with partner agencies
If you’re ready to step into a night leadership role that balances responsibility, care, and real impact – we want to hear from you.
