Deputy Nurse Team Manager – Radiotherapy Outpatients

We are recruiting for a Deputy Nurse Manager who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The department is a busy and diverse area with exciting learning opportunities. We are seeking to maintain and expand the Cancer Centre staff as we move to an exciting new future.
The successful candidate for this post must be self‑motivated, able to work under their own initiative, have excellent time management skills, highly developed communication and people‑management skills, and the ability to manage change.
In addition, you will receive a High‑Cost Area Supplement of 15% of your basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,552 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for delivering a high standard of specialist nursing care to all patients within MVCC.
The Deputy Nurse Manager will coordinate the overall management of the Department.
They will facilitate the education and support of qualified and unqualified staff and participate in the development of nursing practice in the clinical area.
The post holder will work independently/autonomously without direct supervision, accountable for their own professional actions, and will take an active role in deputising and supporting the Nurse Manager.

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* Registered nurse educated to degree level
* SACT / Chemotherapy module
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Advanced communication skills training
* Working to Nursing Degree or equivalent level of study
Previous Experience
* Post‑registration experience in an oncology specialist setting
* Experience in multidisciplinary working
* Experience in clinical / team leadership
* Involvement in audit / research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences
Skills
* Organisational and time‑management skills
* Analytical and judgement skills with the ability to appraise a situation and act quickly
* Flexibility and ability to work within a team
* Problem‑solving ability
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Intravenous / Cannulation / Central Venous Access Device skills and experience
* Administration of SACT / Chemotherapy and management of side effects
* Ability to motivate others
Knowledge
* Understanding of risk management, health and safety and other clinical governance issues
* Knowledge of local and national health care initiatives / innovation to improve patient care, experience and safety
* Good knowledge of cancer and treatment pathways
