Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Bank Community Mental Health Nurse/Social Worker Band 6 to work within the South Beds Leighton Buzzard CMHT. The post is based at Crombie House, Leighton Buzzard, and involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team including CPNs, Doctors, Psychologists, Support Workers and Occupational Therapists. The role supports the NHS Long Term Plan and aims to focus on people’s assets and strengths, delivering holistic, creative solutions to support individuals in the community.
You will work in partnership with service users and carers, identifying strengths and working with other agencies and voluntary groups to achieve good outcomes that maintain independence. A working knowledge of The Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act/DOLS and other social care legislation is required. ELFT and Central Bedfordshire Council offer training opportunities to support professional registration.

Responsibilities
* Be responsible for an identified community caseload with a high standard of professional conduct, complying with best practice and professional accountabilities.
* Deliver delegated statutory social care duties under the Care Act, Safeguarding and other relevant legislation in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.
* Access appropriate care and support packages for people with mental health needs and/or their carers, adhering to local authority procedures.
* Promote a service user-focused service and participate in audits and surveys relevant to the team.
* Contribute to the development of new policies and procedures as required and ensure culturally competent care, recognizing Equal Opportunities and Human Rights.
* Establish and maintain good relationships with service users, carers and voluntary sector colleagues; provide best evidence-based practice in line with legislation, policies and quality guidelines.
* Support supervision and training needs of staff and students as appropriate; coordinate day-to-day team activities and workload in the absence of leadership.
* Adhere to Health & Safety requirements and maintain awareness of risk management concepts and service standards/targets.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualified Bank Community Mental Health Nurse or Social Worker (Band 6) with experience in community mental health.
* Strong interest in Biopsychosocial intervention/recovery model within a community setting.
* Good working knowledge of The Care Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act/DOLS and other social care legislation.
* Ability to work in partnership with service users, carers and other agencies; effective communication and relationship-building skills.
* Commitment to personal and professional development; willingness to undertake statutory training and CPD.
* Knowledge of safeguarding (Section 42) and Making Safeguarding Personal guidance is desirable.
Service Improvement & Administrative
* Adhere to Trust policies on Record Keeping and Care Programme Approach; ensure accurate data entry into information systems.
* Be aware of service standards/targets and participate in Quality Improvement activities.
* Understand and apply risk management techniques and maintain compliance with national and local guidelines.
* Be responsible for the safe use of equipment and resources within the workplace.
