Robert Half Technology are assisting a global market leading e-commerce organisation to recruit a Backend Engineer on a 6 months contract basis. Hybrid working - London based
As a Backend Engineer, you will build and scale services that enable internationalisation and support integration of new platform capabilities into the Live ecosystem.
Role
1. The Backend Engineer will be responsible for building services for multi-language configuration and regional behaviour
2. Supporting currency handling, pricing logic, and transaction flows
3. Integrating new systems into the Live platform
4. Contributing to a shared transaction layer used across multiple products
5. Collaborating with frontend and mobile engineers to deliver consistent experiences Key Responsibilities
6. Design and build backend services end-to-end
7. Contribute to platform and API design decisions
8. Improve system performance and reliability
9. Work within an evolving architecture with real production constraints
Profile
10. The Backend Engineer will have strong API and service development skills
11. Experience working on transaction systems, payments, or eCommerce platforms is required
12. Experience with GraphQL preferred
13. Exposure to Elixir, Go, or similar backend technologies
14. Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments Code-Writing Contribution Owns and delivers production backend services with increasing responsibility in system design.
