Legal Secretary Position in St Albans
We are actively recruiting for a Legal Secretary to join a long-established practice based in the St Albans area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Answer the telephone and assist clients with enquiries when the lawyer is not available.
2. Meet clients who visit the office without an appointment, answer queries, take messages, and make file notes.
3. Open and close client files according to standard procedures, including performing online money laundering checks and assisting with manual checks.
4. Liaise with clients as directed.
5. Maintain lawyers’ diaries and schedule appointments.
6. Organise internal and external meetings, including booking meeting rooms and arranging refreshments.
7. Manage outgoing post and emails.
8. Maintain up-to-date internal and client files.
9. Undertake typing for lawyers and draft standard letters and forms for approval.
10. Handle general document management, such as requesting and logging deeds.
11. Coordinate work with the outsourced typing company, including preparing enclosures.
12. Liaise with the accounts team for accurate accounts administration, including transaction requisitions through the peppermint system, receiving cheques, and entering data.
13. Input client and potential client details into the CRM system.
14. Perform administrative tasks like photocopying and file archiving.
15. Create and maintain a tidy, organized office environment.
16. Report faults with IT, telephones, and printers.
17. Assist with wider secretarial and telephone cover as part of the team.
18. Undertake client/administrative tasks, including risk management related to clients and matters.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Typing speed of at least 50 wpm.
* Excellent grammar and spelling.
* Background in the legal profession.
The position offers a salary of £30,000 per annum.
