Part‑time role – 22.2 hours per week (Sunday - Tuesday).

Required Qualifications

* Must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence (automatic licences are not accepted).

Job Overview

A career in community payback gives you the power to make a positive impact on the lives of people on probation as well as your community. People come from all walks of life to form one team in the Probation Service. It’s all about supporting people on probation on their journey and making your community a better place. Whether that’s building benches or cleaning the streets, you’re there because you genuinely want to help. If this sounds like you, apply now.

Key Responsibilities

* Directly supervise work groups of offenders serving a community sentence.
* Drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
* Responsible for all work‑site supervision tasks, ensuring tasks are carried out to the best of the service users’ ability.
* Work alongside people to demonstrate good practice as necessary.
* Lead small teams to complete their unpaid work hours, motivating them to complete a range of manual tasks such as clearing overgrowth to make public spaces safer, restoring community facilities (sports halls, playgrounds), planting trees or laying flowerbeds, litter picking and graffiti removal.

On a typical day you will spend up to 7 hours supervising a group at an unpaid work placement.

Working Pattern & Conditions

Accommodated to people on probation who work or have caring responsibilities. Community Payback projects run 7 days a week; therefore you will work frequent weekends and may be asked to cover some evenings. When evening or weekend days are worked, you will be paid a higher rate of 50%. There may be a chance to work part‑time in some regions; this can be discussed at interview. Rest breaks may not always happen in the standard way – we make sure your well‑being is looked after and we’re open about this from the outset.

Benefits & Salary

Starting salary: £26,475 pro‑rata.

Other benefits include job security, great benefits and career progression opportunities, and the chance to make a real difference to people’s lives and our communities.

Work weekends as part of the normal working pattern, with a higher pay rate for weekend work.
