Key Responsibilities
* Directly supervise work groups of offenders serving a community sentence.
* Drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
* Responsible for all work‑site supervision tasks, ensuring tasks are carried out to the best of the service users’ ability.
* Work alongside people to demonstrate good practice as necessary.
* Lead small teams to complete their unpaid work hours, motivating them to complete a range of manual tasks such as clearing overgrowth to make public spaces safer, restoring community facilities (sports halls, playgrounds), planting trees or laying flowerbeds, litter picking and graffiti removal.
On a typical day you will spend up to 7 hours supervising a group at an unpaid work placement.
Working Pattern & Conditions
Accommodated to people on probation who work or have caring responsibilities. Community Payback projects run 7 days a week; therefore you will work frequent weekends and may be asked to cover some evenings. When evening or weekend days are worked, you will be paid a higher rate of 50%. There may be a chance to work part‑time in some regions; this can be discussed at interview. Rest breaks may not always happen in the standard way – we make sure your well‑being is looked after and we’re open about this from the outset.

Starting salary: £26,475 pro‑rata.
