About the Role
At Bedford High School we believe that excellent student attendance and safeguarding is of utmost importance and as such, it is placed at the heart of everything we do. In recent safeguarding external reviews, our attendance and safeguarding procedures have been deemed highly effective. The role of Attendance Officer requires a well‑organised professional, attention to detail and the ability to multi‑task.
Key Responsibilities
* Record and monitor student attendance each morning.
* Work with the pastoral team and liaise with families and outside agencies.
* Provide first contact calls and/or visits, addressing and removing barriers to attendance.
* Analyse attendance data and create improvement plans for students and families.
* Support the efficient running of the busy school office and handle attendance enquiries.
* Collaborate with the Attendance Admin Assistant in day‑to‑day operations.

Bedford High School is a mixed comprehensive school judged “good” by Ofsted in 2023. It is now full throughout KS3 and KS4 with a waiting list of families. The school operates on two sites with excellent facilities including a 3G pitch, green outdoor space, an outside classroom, bistro and gym areas.
