We are seeking an ambitious and capable Lead Land Surveyor to support and grow our surveying capability across overhead line (OHL), underground cable, and substation projects.

It is a fast-growing multi-disciplinary engineering, planning and environmental consultancy specialising in the design and consenting of power system projects, including overhead lines and underground cables. Across the company, we offer design solutions, planning and environmental consultancy expertise, as well as site-based services, including overhead line surveys, design studies for overhead lines and underground cable schemes, condition inspections, site investigations, and engineering/environmental surveys. The role will involve on-site data capture, post-processing and coordination of survey outputs to support the design teams. The successful candidate will take a leading role within the survey team, acting as the technical point of contact whilst helping to develop best practice, mentor others and shape the future growth of the survey function.
The role involves :
* Managing Day-to-day survey operations, both on-site and office-based.
* Health & Safety compliance, preparing RAMS and site documentation
* Liaison with land-owners and clients when on site.
* Organisation and housekeeping of survey equipment.
* To ensure surveying operations comply with company Quality Management System standards (ISO 9001) and take an active role in developing and maintaining internal business systems, including Environmental and Health & Safety.
* On-site data capture of structures, components, and ground features – using GPS, Trimble Total Station, LiDAR Scanners and UVA
* Process and validate survey data in accordance with client specifications and industry standards. Outputs include DTM models, LAZ files, CSVs, point clouds and CADD drawings, integrating with GIS and PLS CADD
Additional information :
* Office-based and / or home-based but UK-wide travel will be required on a regular basis – in particular, a number of projects are based in Scotland.
* All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and transport will be provided by the company when working on site.
* Fieldwork can be in remote locations and our work involves accessing remote areas (sometimes in uneven terrain) on foot.

Skills and experience required :
* A minimum of 3 years of onsite land surveying experience
* A good communicator demonstrating the ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Pro-active, with the ability to manage time effectively.
* Strong understanding of survey accuracy, control and quality assurance.
* Planning and organisation.
* Attention to detail.
* Problem solving.
* A full clean driving license.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD or survey software applications is advantageous
Desireable
* Drone pilot license – GVC (although training can be provided)
