About the Role
As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial and contractual management of key projects from tender through to final account. Working closely with the Head of Estimating and Commercial, project teams, and senior leadership, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably while managing commercial risk and maintaining strong client relationships.
You will also provide leadership and support to Quantity Surveyors and the wider commercial team, helping drive strong commercial governance across the business.
Key Responsibilities Include:
* Lead the commercial management of projects from tender stage through to final account settlement
* Oversee cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting, including monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR)
* Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions, ensuring risk is understood and effectively managed
* Manage contract changes, variations, claims, and extensions of time
* Prepare and review interim payment applications and final accounts
* Oversee subcontract procurement and commercial management, including valuations and payment certification
* Work closely with project and engineering teams to ensure commercial decisions support successful project delivery
* Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to Quantity Surveyors and commercial staff
* Represent Had Fab in commercial discussions and negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders
* Support the continuous improvement of commercial systems, reporting, and governance processes
About You
We’re looking for a confident and commercially minded individual who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent leadership and negotiation skills.
You’ll bring:
* Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
* Chartered status (MRICS) or working towards chartership
* Minimum 8 years’ experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, or infrastructure projects
* Strong knowledge of standard forms of contract including NEC, JCT, FIDIC, LOGIC, or ICE
* Proven experience managing commercial risk, cost control, and subcontract accountsExcellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
* Experience leading or mentoring commercial team members
