Job Description

A new, exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lifecycle Engineer to join our Product Maturity & Cost team within Controls Lifecycle Engineering.

The Controls Lifecycle Engineering team provides technical support for in-service mechanical and electrical system products across the Civil, Commercial, and Business Aviation engine families, including air, oil, fuel, and electrical Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). The team ensures the continued successful in-service operation and reliability of engine fleets by processing and analyzing LRU service data to provide insights and influence safety, reliability, and cost improvements.

The Lifecycle Engineer will be responsible for providing meaningful insights and identifying opportunities for significant cost and maturity improvements. They should be motivated to realize these opportunities and capable of leading their delivery through appropriate channels.

This role offers opportunities to work with internal and external customers, partners, suppliers, and maintenance, repair & overhaul facilities, focusing on data delivery and performance monitoring.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, supporting wider lifecycle activities such as unit and fleet investigations. The role can be based in Birmingham or Derby depending on personal circumstances.

Key Accountabilities

1. Collaborate with LRU Suppliers and MRO facilities to improve support, including analyzing reliability data.
2. Develop insights and metrics to understand LRU performance, safety, reliability, and cost drivers.
3. Present analysis findings to project, engineering, and supplier management teams.
4. Lead initiatives to address identified drivers through lifecycle engineering and project processes.
5. Enhance the LRU data management system for better integration and automation.
6. Support the wider team with cost and maturity challenges.


Key Experience & Qualifications

* Degree in a STEM subject or relevant engineering experience (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical, Controls).
* Strong numeracy, technical, and analytical skills, with component and systems thinking.
* Familiarity with civil aerospace engine systems and in-service/control systems operation is advantageous.
* Experience with software and database tools such as Python, Jango, and Azure DevOps is a plus.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder influencing skills.
* Good time management, prioritization, and risk management abilities in high-pressure environments.
