PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600-£36,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
BBC Sport Scotland is the home of the Scotland men's and women's national football teams, as well as the Premiership, the Championship, the SWPL and Scottish rugby. Our coverage extends across digital, television and radio, and the coming year will bring the Six Nations, the World Cup finals and the Commonwealth Games. As a podcast presenter and digital journalist, you'll play a key role in presenting our daily football podcast and working on our online output, delivering fast, creative and exciting content to a growing audience.

Our daily football podcast delivers incisive and engaging analysis of Scottish football, aiming to entertain as well as inform our audience. Published every morning, the presenter works with the producer to line up guests and talking points, then ensures that content reaches our other digital platforms. Our online team sits at the heart of our digital output, delivering content to a growing and wide-ranging audience in Scotland and beyond. Our previews, reports, live texts and analysis deliver the full breadth of coverage and you would be working with a small team of passionate, dedicated and experienced people who collaborate to deliver the best possible output.
Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Present episodes of the daily football podcast, recording early in the morning, then writing up the best of the content for our online platforms
* Liaise and plan with the podcast producer to shape the podcast's narratives and guests
* Write accurate, concise and engaging news stories and match reports to short deadlines
* Contribute creative, exciting and informative entries into our live text coverage of major sporting events and news stories
* Use your knowledge of Scottish football, rugby and other sports to generate and deliver feature stories or analysis pieces
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Demonstrable knowledge of the full breadth and range of Scottish football
* An understanding of the podcast landscape, what engages the audience and what delivers the best content
* Ability to write clear, concise and accurate copy to very demanding deadlines
* A proven ability to generate content ideas that engage our range of audiences across different digital platforms
* Clear communication skills and experience of working effectively and collaboratively as part of a small team and with the wider sport department
Desired But Not Required
* Knowledge of our daily football podcast and its wider digital, audio and video footprint
* An understanding of the scope, reach and differing audiences of BBC Sport Scotland's multiple digital platforms
* Experience of working within a fast-paced environment and across differing shift patterns
* Experience in broadcasting
