Logistics Technician (Asset Controller)
Competitive Salary + Benefits – Join the Typhoon Propulsion Support Facility at RAF Coningsby as an EJ200 Logistics Technician (Asset Controller). This role supports the Typhoon engine support contract between Serco and Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S).
Responsibilities
* First point of contact for supply issues within the store’s facility in line with contract hours – alternating day shift and late shift ending at 2359 hrs.
* Carry out required tasks within the warehouse (receipting, binning, issuing, housekeeping and stock checking) to ensure assets are appropriately controlled at all times.
* Ensure physical and virtual segregation of assets based on condition.
* Where necessary handle and pack items to the recognised standard.
* Operate the quarantine store and ensure items are sentenced in a timely fashion.
* Use IT systems (MJDI, PSSN & ESS) to reflect accurate stock‑levels, life remaining, asset condition and serial numbers.
* Use approved audit process to confirm physical and system accuracy, meeting MOD asset accounting policies.
* Engage with wider supply chain representatives to obtain accurate forecasts on stock deliveries and to escalate shortages beyond agreed minimum levels.
* Produce a standardised report highlighting adherence to KPIs, Q‑control and PPI position.
* Identify and report Near‑Misses, MEMS issues and quality concerns – resolve to root cause where possible.
* Orchestrate monthly Compliance Checks and ensure daily Sustainment (5S) of the working environment.
* Be an active member of the EJ200 engine support team to disseminate logistics information to the wider team.
* Play a supportive role in daily delivery meetings to establish the tactical plan at daily and weekly level to maximise engine and LRI availability.
* Carry out any other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Essential Qualifications
* Logistics experience
* Knowledge of military supply procedures
* IT competence
* Excellent people & customer skills
* Full driving licence
Desirable Qualifications
* Knowledge of MJDI
* Knowledge of PSSN / EES
* Commitment to HS&E and Business Improvement
* Good communication skills and customer engagement
* Ability to work with initiative in line with published documentation sets
* Proactive and positive attitude to work
* IT literate with an ability to learn new systems/processes
