Job summary
We are seeking a Safety and Environmental Manager based in Oxfordshire to work in an aerospace design office. The role involves controlling, maintaining, and managing the Air System(s) Safety Management Plan (SM plan).

Description/Overall purpose of the Job
The Design Centre provides completions and retrofits for all products. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the Safety Management Process (SMP) across all UK managed products to ensure safety throughout the product lifecycle. The role requires excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to build professional relationships with customers and suppliers.
Main responsibilities
* Manage the Air Systems Safety Management plan as the primary Design Organisation interface.
* Control and maintain the Air System(s) SM plan on behalf of the Head of Design.
* Maintain Air System safety documentation.
* Monitor reported occurrences, coordinate reviews, and recommend corrective/mitigating actions.
* Perform hazard identification and safety risk assessments.
* Ensure timely implementation of corrective/mitigating actions.
* Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions.
* Provide independent advice on Air System safety matters.
* Monitor safety concerns in the aviation industry and assess their impact on operations.
* Organize staff safety training as needed.
* Attend Authority meetings as required.
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of MAA DAOS and CFAOS processes and practices.
* Understanding of certification requirements (FAR/CS29, DSTAN 00-970).
* Good knowledge of aircraft design, testing, and manufacturing processes.
* Competencies in aeronautical engineering, including safety assessments and risk management.
* Experience with tools such as Adelard ASSC and E-Cassandra.
* Strong customer relations and networking skills.
* Negotiation and influencing abilities.
* Structured presentation skills.
* Diligent, systematic, and IT literate.
Education, Qualifications or Training
* Aeronautical degree or equivalent.
* Professional experience or other qualifications may be considered.
* Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent training.
