Job Overview
Part‑time Quest Community Phlebotomist – 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, Monday to Friday, in Calderdale. The role supports the Quest Service by performing phlebotomy duties in community settings and domiciliary visits.
Main Duties
* Maintain patient dignity and confidentiality at all times.
* Adhere to Trust Aseptic Non‑Touch Technique Policy (ANTT).
* Work unsupervised undertaking domiciliary visits. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business insurance are essential.
* Undertake surveys and audits when requested.
* Attend to staff and patient queries, referring appropriately.
* Comply with all Health and Safety Regulations.
* Use a visual display unit to book appointments and access the Trust intranet and work‑related e‑mails.
* Cover for other staff when required.
* Carry out any duties defined by the Manager/Team Leader in charge.
Professional and Managerial Duties
* Comply with all aspects of mandatory training and be aware of all Trust policies and procedures.
* No managerial duties are required for this post.
* Ensure stock is rotated to minimise waste.
* Participate in regular supervision and mandatory training.
* Engage in Trust annual appraisal to identify, develop and agree your own development plan with your Line Manager.
* Comply with all Trust policies, procedures and protocols, including the Equal Opportunity Policy.
* Seek advice and support from the Line Manager whenever necessary.
* Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times.
Qualifications / Training
* Educated to GCSE level A* – D or equivalent in Mathematics & English.
* Level 2 NVQ/QCF or equivalent in a healthcare related subject.
Knowledge, Experience & Expertise
* Previous experience in a healthcare setting with understanding of equality and diversity and compassionate care.
* Experience of complying with legislation, policies and procedures.
* Experience working in an ever‑changing environment.
* Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
* Geographical knowledge of the Calderdale area.
Communication and Relationships
* Effective communication skills when dealing with difficult or vulnerable people.
* Demonstrate a person‑centred approach.
* Willingness to complete further training to support the specified role.
* Compassionate, caring, empathetic and understanding.
* Professional and positive demeanour, smart appearance, hardworking, flexible, reliable and a good communicator.
* Attention to detail and accuracy, e.g., completing patient identification checks.
* Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team, maintaining the patient as the first priority under pressure.
* Physical capability to lift, bend, push, pull and stand for long periods.
* Ability to learn from mistakes.
