We’re looking for motivated Revenues and Benefits Assistants/Officers to join our fast-paced Revenues and/or Benefits Teams within Resident and Business Support. Based on your skills and experience, you’ll join either the Council Tax or Benefits service, with current vacancies across both areas. Both services are vital, with Council Tax roles at the forefront of generating key income streams—such as Council Tax and Business Rates—that fund essential services and make a real community impact. Those working within Benefits are equally critical, supporting vulnerable residents by administering payments that help ensure people are appropriately housed and supported, as well as managing the delivery of a wide range of government grants. Roles are interchangeable across teams, allowing us to align placements with your strengths while supporting your development and meeting service needs. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll manage a varied caseload and take responsibility for cases end-to-end, including: Negotiating payment arrangements Processing changes in liability Applying discounts, exemptions, and relevant legislation Issuing refunds Processing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims Managing changes of circumstance Completing full case reviews Supporting the delivery of government grants You’ll also handle customer contact across multiple channels, including inbound and outbound calls and face-to-face interactions within our Contact Centre. Throughout, you’ll ensure work is completed in line with statutory regulations, policies, and procedures, while delivering high-quality customer service and maximising income collection. What You’ll Need to Succeed Experience delivering high-quality customer service Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent attention to detail A proven track record in debt recovery or experience in welfare/benefits roles Self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure A collaborative and team-focused approach Experience in Housing Benefits, Council Tax legislation or a Revenues environment is desirable but not essential—full training will be provided.
