We have a fantastic new opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join our Kinship Assessment Team as a Senior Social Worker.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will oversee caseloads of Kinship assessments, including fostering and special guardianship assessments, through private and public law proceedings. You will join a welcoming, experienced, and supportive team that values good practice and celebrates achievements.
We collaborate closely with colleagues in the Fostering Service, Safeguarding, Children in Care, and legal teams. Birmingham Children’s Trust’s Family and Friends Service is committed to improving outcomes for children, kinship carers, and our workforce.
We are rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and aim to be an outstanding fostering service!
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham. Applicants must reside within a suitable commute distance and have the right to work in the UK. We do not support sponsorship.

About you
* You must be a qualified and registered Social Worker with SWE.
* Experience working with kinship carers.
* Ability to provide outstanding service to kinship carers and children.
* Experience in preparing court reports within strict deadlines is desirable.
* Ability to work independently with strong interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of care planning, fostering legislation, and safeguarding procedures.
* Assessment and report writing skills that are analytical and evidence-based.

* Salary plus an incentive payment of £1,000 and a relocation package up to £8,000 (T&Cs apply).
* Annual leave starting at 30 days, increasing to 33 days after 5 years, and 35 days after 10 years.
