Alfred Recruitment are working with a Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy, who are now actively looking for a new Principal Structural Engineer to join and help lead their Manchester office. This would be a perfect role for someone who is looking to take on more responsibility in the team and to step into a role that has a great deal of progression opportunity.
This role is particularly exciting thanks to the ambition of this client, they have grown from strength to strength over the past 5 years, opening several new offices and hiring new teams and directors in the process.
Manchester is one of their newer offices and as such are looking for an experienced number 2 who can deliver a range of projects in the Manchester region across residential & commercial developments. As well as helping to lead a fast-expanding team of engineers.
What you’ll be doing
* Taking responsibility of the production of drawings, calculations, design and reports produced by yourself and the team, whilst coordinating
* Leading and managing delivery of a variety projects, working closely with clients and stakeholders throughout – presenting solutions to clients when necessary and developing client relationships and exploring BD opportunities
* Analysis of technical problems and assessing the feasibility of suggested approaches, whilst developing alternate solutions if needed
* Following and contributing to clients engineering procedures for completing work to the highest standard and adding value to the schemes
* Identify and managing risks within your area of responsibility
* Supporting other team members in their technical development
* Attending site visits to review project constraints and the construction process
* Internal project management including resource planning and financial control, including, developing fee proposals and cost estimates
What you’ll need for the role
* Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
* Ideally Chartered or working towards chartership
* Experience using Civil 3D and AutoCAD and ability to support others in use
* Good understanding of design guides and standards
* Knowledge of the designers’ responsibilities under CDM (2015)
* Previous experience delivering projects across mostly residential, commercial & mixed use
