Resilience Officer | 8901 | Two year Fixed Term Contract | 37 hours per week | £37,280 to £39,152 per annum (Scale I) | County Hall, Norwich
An exciting opportunity exists for an innovative and highly motivated individual to join the Norfolk County Council (NCC) Resilience Team.
Each year in Norfolk we see potential high tide events, surface water flooding, severe weather and utility failures. Do you want to be part of the dynamic team that ensures that there is a coordinated public sector wide, emergency response in place? To keep our residents safe; helping our communities to respond to and recover from emergencies?
If so, we are looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Resilience Officer. This post offers an excellent opportunity to engage with a wide range of partners in other local authorities, emergency services, the NHS and other organisations across our large rural county.
The post holders will be involved in the development, writing and maintenance of emergency plans and service delivery. As well as supporting the management of the authority’s robust business continuity framework. The individual will maintain close and effective liaison with a variety of organisations including the emergency services, District Councils, other County Council services, statutory public agencies such as CCGs, PHE and the Environment Agency, as well as Voluntary, Community and Faith Groups and many others. This will primarily be delivered through the Norfolk Resilience Forum.
The Officers will work within the Resilience Team and provide support to all NCC Directorates and service teams as well as directly to the Head of Resilience as required.
They will have an interest in forward planning, clear focus on detail and be able to build strong working relationships across a variety of organisations. As well as being able to respond calmly and knowledgeably during an emergency, they will have experience of working and achieving results in business continuity, health resilience, logistics and emergency planning multi-agency environments.
The postholders will be primarily working virtually and will be expected to work flexibly to enable effective working relationships to be maintained with staff and stakeholders. The successful applicants may be required to work in other locations in the County. In addition, the post holders will be required to respond to emergencies and many need to take part in 24/7 responsibilities, this may require some unsocial hours working.
Should you wish to have an informal discussion concerning the post and/or obtain further details please contact Richard Cook, Head of Resilience on 01603 222014.
