About Our Oxfam Shops
Open since 1948, Oxfam shops are at the heart of the charity and their community, raising vital funds and increasing public awareness of our work. They are guided by our values of empowerment, accountability, and inclusiveness, with a focus on raising as much money as possible.
The Role of Our Shop Managers
Shop managers are commercially aware, constantly seeking new business opportunities, motivating their teams, and creating a safe and energizing work environment. They uphold high standards, have a strong drive to achieve results, and are accountable for their shop's performance.
The role of the shop manager is empowered, varied, busy, and offers the opportunity to work with some amazing people. They are pivotal to our business success and can make a real difference. Oxfam operates a volunteer operating model, where volunteers are empowered to handle most tasks within the shop, including running the shop in the manager’s absence.
Often the only paid staff member, our managers are comfortable in this environment, enjoy working with others, and excel at delegating to their teams. Excellent communicators, they are creative and continually seek opportunities to attract new supporters daily.
