As a MongoDB Database Administrator, you will work in project teams designing, building, and maintaining MongoDB databases and infrastructure to provide robust business solutions. You will be involved in all stages from design and build to supporting both non-production and production environments. We foster a learning culture at NBS, encouraging ongoing development and skill enhancement. You will also have opportunities to join our various communities to share ideas and collaborate with other professional engineers.

For this role, you will spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, 40% of your working time, based at either our London, Swindon, Northampton, or Bournemouth offices. If you are outside of Swindon and London, you will be required to attend these offices once a month for workshops, collaboration, and meetings.

What you’ll be doing
You will collaborate within delivery teams to build optimal solutions for Nationwide, leveraging your technical leadership and SME knowledge to advise, build systems, and resolve issues within the MongoDB space. You will guide less experienced engineers to develop fit-for-purpose designs and solutions aligned with team objectives.
You may be required to work on-call from time to time.
About you
You should have a proven track record in delivering technical solutions through the design, build, and implementation of MongoDB, with in-depth knowledge of:
* Linux operating system concepts
* Configuring and supporting MongoDB OpsManager for backups and deployments
* MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding
* Supporting JSON document structures, including exporting and importing documents
* Troubleshooting and performance tuning within MongoDB for development and testing teams
* Working across multiple projects and collaborating within a team
* Sharing expertise with emerging talent
* Building relationships with technical and business stakeholders based on professionalism and knowledge
* Quickly learning new technologies
Knowledge and experience in at least three of the following areas:
* Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible)
* LDAP integration
* Red Hat OpenShift
* Kafka
* Network and infrastructure security
* Agile methodologies and Scrum framework
* Regulatory environments such as PCI and GDPR
* Working with third parties/suppliers
