An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a new operating theatre team for Maternity at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which provides care to women in and around York, North Yorkshire and the East Coast. The Trust has an increasing demand for Caesarean Sections (elective and emergency).
We are looking for experienced Scrub Practitioners to join our Maternity operating theatre team in York and Scarborough. This is a golden opportunity to work within our maternity multidisciplinary team and have a positive impact in our community.
Part‑time hours are available with a minimum of 23 hours per week (2 shifts per week). The post may become permanent at the end of this fixed‑term/secondment period.
Qualifications
* 3 years’ experience in Maternity Theatres, OR 3 years’ experience in Gynae/GI/Vascular or Urology Theatres.
* Experience as a Scrub Practitioner.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritise patient care during surgical / anaesthetic procedures.
* Actively support patients and families, communicating clinical information using a variety of methods to ensure effective understanding.
* Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within operating theatres, e.g., through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.
* Prepare and organise the clinical area to receive patients for elective and emergency cases.
* Safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the operating list.
* Adhere to the NMC / ODP professional Code of Conduct.
