Role Description
Senior Buyer (Oils) - Liverpool
The role of the Senior Buyer is to:
1. Strategically source goods and services to improve quality and provide for innovative opportunities at the lowest total cost of ownership.
2. Ensure all goods and services are sourced responsibly in line with regulatory, ethical, technical, sustainability, and customer requirements.
3. Formulate and maintain inbound supply chain strategies to maximize effectiveness and optimize the total cost of the components they buy.
4. Be a consultative partner, demonstrating knowledge across spend categories and providing insight to support and help shape strategy.
5. Be a champion for business processes and governance, supporting the Head of Commercial, Oils UK, with the development of colleagues.

* Travel will be required in this role.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Create and develop category and sourcing plans with stakeholders.
2. Drive partnership strategy for long-term growth and supply continuity.
3. Negotiate to obtain the lowest total cost of ownership.
4. Review and report on initiatives and cost reduction projects.
5. Communicate market conditions clearly internally and externally.
6. Utilize ERP systems for analytics and reporting.
7. Use tools like e-auctions, should-cost modeling, TCO, and value lever analysis to maximize value.
8. Lead negotiations and develop supplier relationships to drive value and mitigate risks.
9. Manage all aspects of spend throughout its lifecycle.
10. Act as a subject matter expert and trusted partner to the business.
11. Develop and maintain responsible suppliers meeting industry standards (e.g., BRC) and ethical standards (e.g., SEDEX).
12. Manage contracts professionally, maintaining cost conditions and source lists.
13. Control currency requirements in line with group policy.
14. Resolve problems ethically, protecting long-term interests.
15. Support other departments to achieve stakeholder satisfaction.
