About the Role

This role is central to creating, maintaining, and communicating project delivery schedules using specialist planning tools (Primavera P6), ensuring inspections are completed on time.

The Inspections Planner will work closely with the Inspections team, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to produce accurate and reliable inspection schedules. They will also generate regular reports showing progress against agreed baselines, including reasons for any deviations.

An important aspect of this role is supporting the Commercial team in assessing the impact of Compensation Events under the NEC contract. Using the project schedule, the Planner will assess changes — including Extensions of Time — and communicate findings clearly and in an evidence-based manner.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Setting up inspections in the planning system using standard WBS codes and the Enterprise Project Structure (EPS) to enable effective reporting.
2. Establishing agreed delivery baselines and creating new ones as needed to support performance monitoring and reporting.
3. Liaising with the Commercial Team to review and agree monthly forecasts, ensuring alignment between commercial and schedule assumptions.
4. Progressing the programme on a monthly basis using site reports, contractor updates, and applications — querying any discrepancies with the Project Manager.
5. Providing the Project Manager with at least a monthly update of the delivery programme in an agreed format, including programme performance, four-month lookaheads, key trends/issues affecting progress, and overall predictability.
6. Undertaking programme assessments of Compensation Events on behalf of the Project Manager, advising on valid Extensions of Time and providing clear evidence to support decisions and commercial discussions.
7. Using schedule data to create benchmarks for future projects based on actual performance from previous programmes.
