Overview
Student Counselling and Wellbeing is part of Student Education and Experience and provides a wide range of excellent and innovative support to help students manage psychological, emotional and mental health difficulties whilst at University. Student Counselling and Wellbeing is a large multi-disciplinary team that supports students through individual appointments, same day support in partnership with Leeds University Union, a comprehensive group and psycho‑educational workshop programme, a Clinical Consultation and Guidance service (Duty System) for University staff, and critical incident response and support.
Responsibilities
* Provide substantial support for people with diagnosed or possible emerging serious mental health conditions.
* Assess, monitor and manage young adults living with mental health difficulties, including crisis response.
* Collaborate within a multi‑disciplinary team and develop quick, robust, collaborative working relationships with clients and their clinical care team(s).
* Maintain effective, responsive liaison with community and university student support services.
* Deliver mental health awareness training sessions to colleagues across the University.
* Work flexibly, including evening hours if required.
Qualifications
Experience providing support for people with serious mental health conditions, proven capacity to assess, monitor, and manage mental health difficulties, and crisis response experience. Considerable experience working with adults diagnosed with neuro‑developmental conditions is highly desirable. Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role may only be suitable for first‑time Skilled Worker visa applicants if they are eligible for salary concessions. Genome Talent visa may be considered for research and academic posts.
