What the Job Involves The Vehicle Inspector is responsible for conducting MOT tests up to Class 7, ensuring vehicle compliance with safety standards, and processing payments according to council procedures. You'll assist with planning and scheduling maintenance and repair programs, inspect and diagnose vehicle faults, and report on MOT station performance. You'll also handle bookings, manage customer interactions, and are accountable for accurate financial transactions and safeguarding legal documentation related to MOT testing. Additionally, you support the Quality Controller and may deputize in their absence, conduct risk assessments, and provide off-site assistance as needed. Skills NVQ 3 Heavy Motor Vehicle qualification or equivalent Qualified Commercial Vehicle Inspector (VOSA accreditation) Ability to operate within MOT (VOSA) regulations Experience in municipal, commercial, or plant fleet maintenance Current vocational LGV Category C and forklift driving licence Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations Proficient in maintaining manual and computerized records Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexible approach in dynamic work environments
