1st Step Solutions are supporting one of our clients who have an opportunity for a Mechanical Supervisor/Manager based in London. Job Overview We're looking for a practical, switched-on Mechanical Supervisor to lead a small team (typically 4-5 men) on a busy site. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance time between the desk and the ground. Key Responsibilities * Lead, motivate and coordinate a team of mechanical operatives. * Manage day-to-day site activities, assign work, and drive productivity. * Handle material orders, daily reports, timesheets, toolbox talks, and permit control. Keep documentation up to date and accurate. * Maintain a safe working environment. Ensure all H&S procedures are followed, and issues are addressed immediately. * Provide honest updates on how the project is really going. If things are going off track, flag it early and work with the team to correct course. * Willing and able to muck in when needed to help get things over the line. * Split time effectively between site supervision and desk work. Stay present on the ground to push momentum but also keep ahead of planning and paperwork. Key Skills & Experience * Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor or Senior Mechanical Operative ready to step up. * Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and how they interact on-site. * Strong organisational and leadership skills. * Comfortable managing small teams and getting the best out of people. * Confident in reading drawings, raising technical queries, and planning tasks. * Sound grasp of Health & Safety regulations and site compliance. Suitable candidate: * A doer as much as a delegator, happy to pitch in when needed. * Organised and reliable. * Comfortable working independently but knows when to escalate. * A good all-rounder, paperwork, people, and progress control.
