We are seeking experienced and passionate gardeners to join our dedicated team, delivering high-quality garden maintenance and development across SJOG services. This role requires enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of grounds care.
As a visible representative of the Charity, you will be expected to act professionally at all times, often working in public-facing environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform a range of grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, hedge trimming, strimming, pruning, deadheading, weeding, and edging.
• Support seasonal planting activities such as bulbs and shrubs.
• Carry out basic maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring safe and tidy workspaces.
• Participate in occasional soft and hard landscaping projects (e.g., turfing, paving, and fencing).
• Follow all health and safety procedures rigorously, taking a proactive approach to safe working practices.
Working Environment
• You will work as part of a small, supportive team, with tasks assigned both with and without direct supervision.
• Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as you may occasionally work independently.
• Work is carried out year-round in varying weather conditions; appropriate PPE and uniform will be provided.
• Seasonal adjustments to working hours may be required due to sunlight hours, averaging 37.5 hours per week across the year.
Additional Requirements
• There is a regular requirement to travel across SJOG services around the North East, North and West Yorkshire therefore a valid UK driver’s licence is essential as you will have access to a company vehicle therefore the minimum age you need to be is 21 for insurance purposes.
• Training will be provided where needed; candidates are not expected to have all skills upon entry.
• You must be committed to continuous learning and development, attending training as required.
