Job overview
We are recruiting a Senior Clinical Trials Coordinator within Research and Innovation (R&I) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). The postholder will be embedded within the Gynae Cancer Research group, part of The University of Manchester, based on the 5th floor at Saint Mary’s Hospital. The role will be line managed by Research & Innovation within MFT.
This is an opportunity to join a team with nationally and internationally recognized investigators working at the forefront of research to develop diagnostics and treatments.
The role is advertised as a developmental position: starting as B5 Clinical Trial Coordinator with a 6-month competency-based training program, progressing to B6 once competencies are achieved.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will ensure high-quality administrative processes for study setup, approvals, data management, and compliance with regulatory frameworks, including financial management of study costs and income recovery with the R&I finance team.
This role oversees the coordination of the IMPRESS2 NIHR-funded programme (June 2025 - June 2030), focusing on decision-making methods for ovarian cancer patients. Responsibilities include working with the PI and team, coordinating with other sites, leading meetings and reports, and acting as a professional contact.
The post involves ensuring adherence to SOPs and regulatory standards, working flexibly and independently, and traveling to other sites as needed.

Person specification
Education
* Degree in a science or health-related discipline, or relevant experience in clinical trials
* Understanding of the clinical trial process
* MSc or equivalent in clinical trials or health discipline
* Structured managerial training or professional development
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience managing clinical trials, including setup, finance, data, audits, and projects
* Knowledge of research governance, legislation, and inspection requirements (e.g., MHRA, HTA)
* Research methodology understanding
* Experience with NHS research governance and UK CRN systems
* Experience in policy writing and evaluation
Skills
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* Ability to motivate and work in a team
