An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Legal Services team, based on the South Coast in Worthing Town Centre, West Sussex, providing a joint legal service to Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council.
We are looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with substantial post-qualification experience in Property Law and Practice, to act as an advanced Property Lawyer for the councils.
Reporting to the Senior Lawyer & Team Leader the successful candidate will:
* Have developed knowledge of property law and practice, knowledge of planning law is desirable.
* Participate in the continuous development and improvement of Legal Services through engagement with the service’s Management Team.
* Undertake both contentious and non-contentious legal business, managing and providing quality legal services to all levels of the Councils and assisting the Chief Governance & Legal Officer (MO) in the provision of corporate legal advice.
* Regularly advise Members and Senior Officers, and attend Council committee meetings which will involve some evening work.
* Have excellent communication and negotiating skills; the ability to apply the law to complex issues and provide clear, accurate legal advice; and be an excellent team player.
