4-5 days per week - days and hours are negotiable for the right candidate. Full time hours are 36 hour per week.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical
The Practice Nurse will work within agreed protocols and demonstrate competence in a wide range of skills in the delivery of care.
Within written protocols, the Practice Nurse will:
4. Participate in activities from the first presentation of the patient/client in primary care including:
5. History taking
6. Full physical examination
7. Diagnostic assessment
8. Use high levels of clinical decision making skills
9. Clinical care will cover a wide range of presentations across the age/gender spectrum and include:
10. Chronic Diseases
11. Sexual Health
Nurse will demonstrate high levels of knowledge and experience in clinical issues e.g. disease processes and their management e.g. chronic disease management where acute problem is also apparent. Nursing clinics may include:
12. Diabetes
13. Asthma
14. Hypertension
15. Cardiac
16. Sexual health and contraception
Nurse will refer patient for diagnostic tests and investigations and to other professional/sources of support as appropriate e.g. consultants.
Other duties specific to role include:
Wound care, dressing techniques, removal of sutures
Application of special dressings, bandages
Venepuncture (if necessary)
First Aid Management
The above lists are not exhaustive but demonstrate the complexity and variety of the role.
Professional
Work in accordance with NMC code of conduct of professional and scope of professional practice.
Provide comprehensive, evidence based care and skilled nursing assessment to clients within General Practice.
To undertake a range of clinical activities appropriate to the needs of clients attending general practice.
Provide support and advice to clients and carers around health promotion information.
To attend relevant meetings, courses, seminars and keep professionally up-to-date.
Any other duties considered relevant to post.
Management
Implement clinical policies & adjust clinical protocols to meet practice needs.
Manage available resources to ensure an efficient and effective service, which is consistent, accessible and relevant to patient needs.
To report, document and evaluate the work of the Nurse through occasional audit activity

Ultimately responsible for the clinical caseload managed
