Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join the Pathology IT team in a cross-disciplinary role, supporting the delivery and optimisation of digital pathology systems. Based in the pathology department, you will work with the Pathology IT Manager to maintain and enhance the performance of the Laboratory Information Management System (WinPath Enterprise) and electronic requesting platform (ICE), which are critical to the safe and efficient running of diagnostic services. The role is ideal for a BMS looking to develop skills in digital healthcare, informatics, and system support, with opportunities to contribute to service improvement, configuration, and change projects.
Responsibilities
* Provide frontline support to pathology staff using WinPath Enterprise and ICE
* Investigate, document, and assist in resolving LIMS and order communications issues
* Maintain test catalogue data, user accounts, access permissions, and workflow configurations
* Participate in system upgrades, testing, and validation activities
* Assist in digital projects involving analyser interfacing, electronic requesting, and paperless reporting
* Support data quality improvement, including Trust and third party reporting systems
* Deliver informal system training and user guidance for laboratory staff
* Liaise with clinical users, IT teams, and third-party suppliers to support digital continuity across the service

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Pathology IT Manager in ensuring the effective operation of pathology systems across all specialties
* Maintain and configure the Laboratory Information Management System (WinPath Enterprise) and support users of the ICE order communications system
* Contribute to accurate test requesting, result reporting, and efficient laboratory workflows
* Provide first-line support for pathology staff using digital systems
* Troubleshoot and escalate system issues appropriately
* Maintain user accounts, access levels, and test catalogue data
* Support LIMS and ICE configuration changes and updates
* Assist with data quality checks and drive data quality improvement, including Trust and third party reporting systems
* Participate in digital transformation projects, including electronic requesting rollouts
* Provide informal training and documentation for system users
* Support the implementation of system upgrades, validation testing, and go-live activities
This is a developmental role ideal for a Biomedical Scientist who is confident in their scientific knowledge and interested in applying it to healthcare IT and system improvement. Training and mentorship will be provided.
