Reed Education are working in partnership with a primary school in Plymouth to recruit an experienced Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant for an immediate start.This is a rewarding opportunity for a confident Teaching Assistant who thrives in a dynamic classroom environment and can provide consistent, adaptable support to pupils with behavioural needs.
About the roleYou will be primarily supporting SEN pupils within a mainstream primary classroom.
The role requires close, proactive support to ensure both pupils can access learning while maintaining a positive environment for the wider class.
Key responsibilities
* Provide one to one and small group support within the classroom
* Support pupils who may disengage or refuse tasks, even when motivated by preferred activities
* Use a range of approaches, including calm, reassuring or enthusiastic communication
* Support transitions between activities, including the use of visual timetables
* Help pupils regulate behaviour and remain engaged in learning
* Adapt quickly when tasks are completed, supporting the wider class where required
* Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
The ideal candidate
* Has proven experience supporting children with behavioural or additional needs
* Demonstrates strong behaviour management skills
* Is calm, patient and highly resilient
* Can adapt quickly within an unpredictable environment
* Is confident working both one to one and across a classroom
