The Role
PURPOSE OF THE POST:
As a teacher, you shall carry out the professional duties of a school teacher as circumstances may reasonably require, as provided under the relevant sections of the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions and Teachers Standards Document.
This post:
* Must focus on teaching and learning, including the ability to teach to KS5.
* Requires exercising professional skill and judgement.
* Must impact the educational progress of students.
Purpose:
* Raise standards of student attainment and achievement within the curriculum and monitor/support student progress.
* Be accountable for student progress and development within your classes.
* Develop and enhance teaching skills and strategies in line with teacher standards.
* Support and challenge student groups in their learning.
* Help build independent, lifelong learners.
Main Duties
Teaching
* Undertake appropriate teaching programmes in accordance with teacher standards.
* Plan lessons to meet learning objectives.
* Use data effectively to plan learning.
* Understand subject progression.
* Provide appropriate feedback to promote further learning.
* Frame questions to assess understanding and promote learning.
* Use peer and self-assessment to enhance learning.
* Set clear curricular targets for students/groups.
* Support the personalised learning agenda, tailoring education to help every student reach high standards.
* Ensure standards of presentation, effort, and learning are achieved.
* Contribute to curriculum development considering specific teaching and learning needs.
* Participate in professional development and training.
Pastoral Provision
* Monitor attendance, progress, and performance, ensuring follow-up actions are taken.
* Implement behaviour management systems to facilitate effective learning.
* Act as a Form Tutor, fulfilling associated duties.
Communications
* Familiarise with the Academy’s aims and objectives.
* Communicate effectively with parents.
* Liaise with external bodies to enhance student learning.
Additional Duties
Participate fully in the academy community, supporting its mission and ethos, and encouraging staff and students to do the same.

Degree or equivalent in relevant subject Essential
