Job Description

Role: Building Surveyor (JPC-56)\nLocations: London\nSector: Public & Private Sector Consultancy\nOverview\nWe’re seeking a capable and proactive Building Surveyor to join our busy consultancy team in London. You’ll work on a range of public and private sector projects, delivering Building Surveying, Project Monitoring, Contract Administration, and producing Building Safety Cases for higher-risk buildings.\nWhile MRICS isn’t essential, you must have proven experience with JCT contracts, from drafting and assembling them through to managing works on site. Also highly desirable is experience in fire remediation projects & experience in new-build residential schemes.\nYou’ll collaborate closely with our London and Kent teams on high-profile projects, thriving in a fast-paced environment where you can take instruction, work independently, and keep projects moving.\nA relevant degree and at least 3 years’ experience are essential, with progression towards MRICS, CIOB, or APM preferred.\nKey Responsibilities:\nBuilding Safety & Surveying\n * Produce compliant Building Safety Cases for higher-risk buildings.\n * Work alongside internal teams and external stakeholders to compile and deliver safety case reports.\n * Undertake detailed building inspections and defect analysis across various sectors including residential, education, and healthcare.\nPre-Contract Procedures and PCSA Work\n * Lead and support the scoping and coordination of pre-contract investigations, surveys and due diligence.\n * Work with clients to produce Project Execution Plans and administer pre-construction activity.\n * Tendering under single and 2-stage procurement methods.\n * Engage in the drafting, reviewing and amending of PCSA and JCT contract documentation.\nSpecification Writing & Technical Delivery\n * Prepare detailed repair and maintenance specifications using NBS.\n * Produce schedules of work and associated documentation under JCT IFC or similar forms.\n * Support the design and technical team in delivering quality documents to support contract delivery.\nContract Administration & Project Monitoring\n * Administer fire remediation and general refurbishment works through to completion.\n * Attend and minute site meetings, carry out regular inspections, and issue instructions, certificates, and notices.\n * Assess valuations and advise clients on cash flow forecasts and contractor applications.\n * Coordinate project teams to ensure effective, timely delivery across multiple stakeholders.\nCollaboration and Communication\n * Represent the business professionally with clients, contractors, residents, and consultants.\n * Liaise effectively with colleagues in both the London and Kent offices.\n * Support internal mentoring, knowledge sharing, and team development.\nSkills, Knowledge and Understanding and Learning:\n * MRICS (or equivalent) is desirable; however, we also welcome applicants holding a relevant degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience who are working towards a professional qualification.\n * Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience.\n * Demonstrable knowledge and experience of producing Building Safety Cases.\n * Strong knowledge and understanding of UK Building Regulations, Fire Safety legislation and guidance from the Building Safety Regulator.\n * Experience working under Pre-Construction Services Agreements (PCSA) to deliver fire remediation work.\n * Solid contract administration experience on traditional repairs and maintenance projects.\n * Proficient in producing specifications and schedules of work using NBS, under JCT IFC or similar contracts.\n * Confident in using Quality Management Systems.\n * Excellent communication and report writing skills.\n * Valid UK driving licence and access to your own car for business use.\nClients:\n * Freeholders, Building Managers, Developers, Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Public Sector Bodies\nRewards and Benefits:\n * Competitive salary, Discretionary bonus, Pension contributions, Private medical insurance, 28 days holiday (incl.
