Field Service Technician
Location: Glasgow (Covering Scotland, Carlisle & Newcastle)
Salary: £45,000 + Overtime (OTE £55,000) + Company Van
Hours: Monday-Friday, 07:00-15:30
Are you an electrically biased, multi-skilled engineer with strong mechanical skills looking for a field-based role with excellent earning potential and variety?
We are recruiting for a Field Service Technician to join a specialist engineering service team delivering world-class loading and materials handling solutions to major logistics and distribution clients across the UK.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with high-profile customers including leading names in logistics, parcel handling and air cargo.
The Role
As part of the Engineering Service Support Team, you will:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) across customer sites
* Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults
* Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend system enhancements
* Participate in a 1 in 3 on-call rota (home-based standby)
* Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and site permit systems
* Maintain accurate service reports and professional customer communication
* Travel across Scotland and occasionally further afield as required
* This role is electrically biased but requires strong mechanical capability, including fabrication and welding.

What We're Looking For
* City & Guilds qualification or recognised engineering apprenticeship
* Electrically biased with strong mechanical skills
* Experience within parcel handling, FMCG, manufacturing or similar environments
* Knowledge of inverter drives, SCADA, Profibus, ASi, PLC/PC control systems (advantageous)
* Experience working to KPIs, PM schedules and permit-to-work systems
* Strong fault-finding ability and problem-solving skills
* Comfortable working autonomously in a field-based role
* Willingness to travel across the UK
* Excellent communication and report-writing skills
