Based at various locations across the city, you will work part time for Dundee City Council Home Care team. We have a mixture of posts, 25 hours or 30 hours, and this can be discussed at interview or prior to applying if you require more information. Requirements
You will have SVQ2 or the ability to undertake training to achieve this award within a specified timeframe. You will also have the ability to be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified time.
Responsibilities
You will assist in maintaining service users in their own homes in the community by attending to their assessed personal and social care needs. You will help service users and carers improve their quality of life.
The Individual
You should have past or present caring experience to a high standard, either through life or work experience. Good written and oral communication skills are essential. You should be able to work as part of a team and independently, using your own initiative. Assessment skills and the ability to understand and meet the needs of people living in the community are necessary. You must show sensitivity and understanding when dealing with vulnerable people, be non-judgemental, and maintain a caring, professional, and dependable attitude. The role requires working a range of shifts, including split shifts, evenings, weekends, and occasional nights. A full, current driving licence is required. You will be expected to undertake further study or training.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment by Dundee City Council.
