Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our highly specialised Functional Neurosurgery Service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role within a nationally recognised programme supporting patients undergoing Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) as part of a complex neurosurgical pathway.

The post holder will provide advanced clinical expertise across the patient pathway, including assessment, education, care coordination and long-term follow-up for patients undergoing functional neurosurgical treatments. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, the CNS will act as a key worker for patients and families, ensuring continuity of care and supporting service development within a world-leading neurosurgical centre.

Main duties of the job
1. Act as the named CNS for patients undergoing functional neurosurgical procedures
2. Deliver highly specialist nursing care to patients with movement disorders requiring DBS or MRgFUS
3. Provide expert advice and act as a key point of contact for patients, carers and the wider MDT
4. Coordinate complex care pathways from referral to long-term follow-up
5. Support DBS programming clinics and undertake patient education and symptom monitoring
6. Work autonomously while maintaining close collaboration with neurosurgeons, neurologists, neurophysiology, radiology and allied health professionals
7. Contribute to service development, audit, research and quality improvement initiatives
8. Provide education and support to nursing colleagues and MDT staff
9. Promote high standards of patient experience and safety within the team

Essential criteria
10. Registered Nurse
11. Teaching and Assessing qualification or equivalent teaching experience
12. Post registration experience in a relevant area with experience of change management
Desirable criteria
13. Has attained a Degree in management/professional nursing issues
14. Leadership qualification
15. Non medical prescribing
Experience
Essential criteria
16. Significant post registration experience in Neurosurgery/Neurology an d experience in either junior specialty role or team leader/ward management role
17. Direct experience in managing DBS/MRgFus patient caseload.
18. Experience with managing patient relevant to specialist area
19. Ability to work within a team and independently
20. Proven teaching and assessing skills

22. Demonstrate commitment through involvement in Trust wide initiatives/ committees
23. Able to demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge of own patient group

25. Ability to practice within the scope of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
26. Ability to demonstrate application of the NHS Plan to own sphere of practice
