About the Role:
We are currently looking for an experienced Freelance Assistant Site Manager to support the delivery of a live education project involving a traditional build extension to an existing school facility. This role will suit someone who is hands-on, proactive, and confident working in a live environment where safety, communication, and organisation are key.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the Site Manager in the day-to-day management of site operations
2. Oversee subcontractors and ensure works are delivered in line with programme and specifications
3. Assist in coordinating trades involved in traditional build activities (groundworks, masonry, roofing, etc.)
4. Maintain high standards of health & safety across site, particularly within a live school environment
5. Monitor quality of works and ensure compliance with drawings and building regulations
6. Manage site logistics, deliveries, and material storage
7. Keep accurate records including site diaries, progress updates, and H&S documentation
8. Liaise with the client, consultants, and school representatives to ensure smooth project delivery
9. Ensure minimal disruption to staff, students, and daily school operations
Requirements:
10. Proven experience as an Assistant Site Manager on construction projects
11. Strong background in traditional build construction methods
12. Previous experience working on education or live environment projects preferred
13. Valid CSCS card (essential)
14. SMSTS or SSSTS certification (preferred)
15. First Aid at Work (desirable)
16. Excellent communication and organisational skills
17. Ability to work independently and support the wider site team effectively
18. Enhanced DBS will be carried out if you don't already have one
