About the Role
We’re looking for a motivated and driven Deputy Engineering Team Manager to support the delivery of engineering excellence across site. Reporting to the Engineering Team Manager, you’ll play a key role in leading the engineering function, ensuring reliability, driving continuous improvement, and supporting operational performance.
You’ll deputise in the absence of the Engineering Team Manager, taking ownership of team leadership, daily operations, and cross-functional communication to ensure business continuity.
What You’ll Be Doing
1. Supporting the delivery of engineering strategy, KPIs, and performance targets
2. Driving a strong Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and food safety culture
3. Leading and developing a high-performing, multi-skilled engineering team
4. Managing planned maintenance (via SAP) and improving asset reliability
5. Driving continuous improvement through RCA, asset care, and performance data
6. Supporting and leading engineering and capital projects
7. Managing contractors and ensuring compliance with site standards
8. Collaborating cross-functionally with Operations, Technical, and Site Leadership
What We’re Looking For
Essential
9. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering
10. Time-served Multi-Skilled Engineer
11. Experience in FMCG manufacturing environment
12. Strong maintenance and fault-finding experience
13. Knowledge of CMMS (e.g. SAP)
14. 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations
15. Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
16. Ability to influence and engage across multiple functions
Desirable
17. HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
18. IOSH / NEBOSH / Food Hygiene / HACCP qualifications
19. Experience leading engineering teams
20. Electrical & Mechanical multi-skilling
21. Project delivery experience
