We are recruiting for a Support Worker to join us at our Supported Accommodation team in Orkney.
Supported Accommodation Orkney provides a high-quality accommodation service for young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.
We are Right There, a charity that recently celebrated our 200th anniversary. We provide tailored support for people, at home, and in the community. We are here for people who are living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, substance use, or family breakdowns.
Last year we supported almost 4,000 individuals, helping to prevent them from becoming homeless or separated from the people they love. Every person’s story is unique, and everyone’s route home is different - it doesn’t matter what the situation is – we’re not here to judge, only to help.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
* Maintain case files and accurately record matters relating to those we support and report as appropriate through the development of support plans
* Conduct needs assessments, review support plans and work collaboratively with the people we support to develop these
* Provide practical and emotional support for independent living skills such as housing, substance use, budgeting, employment and daily living skills
* Liaise with external agencies and partners (e.g. Housing and social work) to coordinate and review support
* Respond appropriately to challenging behaviours, crisis situations and complete incident reports
* Complete ‘keeping you safe’ plans and risk assessments, ensuring these are reviewed regularly and updated as required
* Arrange and facilitate key work meetings utilising outcomes tools and information management systems
* Provide appropriate levels of high-quality support to the people we support
* Advocate on behalf of those we support
* Assist people we support to access the local community
* Promote and represent Right There to local partnership agencies including Local Authority, Social Work, Housing Services and other relevant bodies
* Signpost and refer to other agencies as appropriate
* Ensure those we support are aware of the service provision across Orkney
