Salary: £31,930 – £36,878 per annum, DOE (including 45 days annual leave, teacher’s pension, discounts). Note salary and annual leave entitlement is for a qualified lecturer.

Hours: 37 hours per week (52 weeks per year)
Contract: Permanent, full time
About the role
We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Carpentry and Joinery to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.
Responsibilities
* Teaching & Curriculum Delivery – Prepare, deliver, assess and verify subject specialisms across various levels, ensuring engaging and inclusive learning experiences tailored to student needs.
* Student Support & Progress Monitoring – Guide students through tutorials, track progress, maintain records and support achievement through vocational opportunities and employer engagement.
* Curriculum Development & Leadership – Lead curriculum innovation, mentor new staff, contribute to course management and collaborate with Programme Managers to enhance teaching practices.
* Quality Assurance & Administration – Complete course‑related admin tasks, participate in team meetings, implement quality processes and contribute to course reviews and student feedback activities.
* College Engagement & Statutory Duties – Support marketing events, interview prospective students, uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety and engage in ongoing professional development.
About you
* Qualifications & Industry Experience – NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry/Joinery, GCSEs in English and Maths, teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve) and experience in the construction industry.
* Teaching & Learning Skills – Proven ability to teach carpentry and joinery up to Level 3, strong classroom performance, and experience supporting diverse learners in an FE environment.
* Professional Conduct & Communication – Effective communicator across all mediums, consistently professional, and committed to promoting the college’s reputation and values.
* Organisation & Teamwork – Strong organisational and administrative skills, ability to meet deadlines, work independently and collaboratively, and contribute positively to curriculum development.
