Job Purpose
Vigilant Security is seeking an experienced and highly professional Control Room Team Leader to be based within a prestigious, high-profile development in Edinburgh City Centre. This is a critical leadership role within the control room environment, requiring a proactive individual with strong operational, people-management, and communication skills.
The successful candidate will be SIA DS and CCTV licensed and will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management of control room operations. This includes overseeing security systems, supervising and supporting control room staff, ensuring compliance with all legal, contractual, and client requirements, and maintaining exceptional standards of professionalism at all times.
This is a full-time position, operating on a 4 on / 4 off rotational shift pattern, covering both:
Day shifts: 07:00 - 19:00
Night shifts: 19:00 - 07:00
We offer a competitive hourly rate of £16.53, along with 19.6 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Understand, support, and adhere to the strategic objectives and operational requirements of the client.
Take responsibility for the daily operation of the control room, ensuring all systems and processes function effectively at all times.
Monitor and operate CCTV, fire, and security systems, ensuring full compliance with procedures, including Key Management and accurate completion of all associated reports.
Lead, manage, and motivate dedicated control room staff, setting a positive example through professional conduct, strong leadership, and operational excellence.
Ensure CCTV systems are used appropriately and in full compliance with the CCTV Code of Practice and Data Protection Act 2018, maximising system effectiveness and electronic patrol efficiency.
Demonstrate initiative and sound decision-making while supervising team members and responding to dynamic situations.
Complete all reporting, documentation, and paperwork accurately, including detailed shift handovers.
Promote effective communication and foster a positive, collaborative, and harmonious working environment.
Maintain the safety and security of the entire Quarter at all times.
Ensure all incidents are responded to appropriately, escalated where required, and fully documented through comprehensive incident reports.
Support the ongoing training, development, and performance improvement of staff members.
Ensure all daily operational tasks are completed, recorded, and reviewed.
Deliver a consistently high-quality, professional security service.
Control access to restricted and prohibited areas, ensuring no unauthorised access to the Control Room.
Ensure radios and communication equipment are fully charged, logged, and issued correctly.
Operate communication systems effectively, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ensure strict adherence to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Proven experience in a Team Leader or Supervisory role, ideally within a security or control room environment.

Previous experience using CCTV systems, radio communications, and command-and-control environments.
Strong incident management experience with the ability to remain calm, decisive, and effective under pressure.
Ability to take ownership of situations, respond promptly, and make sound decisions within strict time constraints.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate reports.
High standards of reliability, punctuality, and attendance to support team effectiveness and operational continuity.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
Immaculate personal presentation and professional demeanour.
A high level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality at all times.
Willingness to support the wider team and undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Ability to pass 5-year vetting (or since leaving compulsory education).
Valid SIA CCTV Licence.
Valid SIA DS Licence.
