Band 7 Occupational Health Clinician

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will support the delivery of a peripatetic Occupational Health (OH) service which requires travel between the base location and the assigned units.
Job responsibilities
* Manage own clinical caseload and proactively support the Service Person (SP) through their clinical pathway in accordance with best practice, current legislation and Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) policy.
* Lead with change, monitor and improve clinical standards through supervision, evidence‑based practice, clinical audit, research and education, maximising OH outputs and optimising SP employability and deployability.
* Develop and teach OH staff, encouraging teamwork, and create an environment in which clinical practice is fostered, evaluated and disseminated.
* Contribute to development and implementation of evidence‑based protocols, standards, policies and clinical guidelines.
* Monitor effectiveness of all clinical practices through quality assurance strategies such as audit and peer review.
* Actively support and lead with achieving quality targets within the Healthcare Assurance Framework (HAF) and all other assurance activities.
* Deliver complex, specialist OH interventions (e.g., implement and monitor Return to Work plans) collaboratively with the service personnel, wider clinical team and the Chain of Command (CoC).
* Monitor staffing levels proactively to ensure sufficiently skilled, experienced and qualified members of the team are available during operating hours, escalating shortfalls and enacting business resilience planning as required.
Qualifications
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by postgraduate study relating to practice area.
Registrations and Memberships
* Registered Nurse or Occupational Therapist with current registration with an appropriate governing and regulatory body (National Midwifery Council (NMC) / Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)).
* Valid membership registration number.
Licences
* Current driving licence (peripatetic role requires private transport).
Experience
* Current and in‑depth clinical and management experience within Occupational Health.
* Evidence of continuous professional development and practical application of new skills to the workplace.
* Experience of Armed Forces healthcare, either in the single Service or tri‑service environment.

Salary
£47,810 to £54,710 a year (pro rata for part time).
