Sandwell Children's Trust are recruiting for a Team Manager to join the Assessment and Intervention Service based within the West Bromwich & Wednesbury in Locality. We are based in a locality model with a focus on good quality assessments and dynamic planning which deliver timely evidence-based interventions and support for children and their families. This is a fantastic opportunity to help shape and make a contribution to the delivery of services. As a Team Manager you would be key in driving forward the delivery of our six strategic priorities that will ensure that we continue to improve practice and outcomes for children and young people, sustain the stable and permanent workforce already in place and to continue to develop a high preforming workforce, working effectively alongside our partners. As a Team Manager working in one of the Assessment & Intervention Teams you will: Have a significant level of experience of working in a children and families social care team. Have an excellent knowledge of the practice standards set by the Trust and be able to achieve our expectation for promoting the effective safeguarding of children and positive changes in their family life. Have a high level of risk analysis skills to aid effective decision making for children. Support social workers and quality assure their assessments, statements and the formulation of plans for children, including, where required, those placed before the court. Be responsible for provision of high-quality advice, decision making and support, alongside any delegated functions. Deliver effective management support and individual supervision and guidance to a team of social work staff. Ensure that the allocation of work within the team meets the needs of the children and families within Sandwell and be responsible for the recruitment and appointment of social workers and other relevant staff in the service area. Monitor and report on the team’s performance, standards and quality of work to ensure compliance with the Trust’s requirements. Effectively manage absence, capability and performance of the team in line with Practice Standards and HR policy. Have an excellent knowledge of child development. About you: You will need to have a recognised professional Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You will be an inspirational leader with excellent management skills and the ability to encourage team working. Have significant experience in Children’s Services (at least 4-5 years children’s social work experience is preferred). Experience of supervising or managing a team, or substantive supervisory experience of newly qualified social workers/students etc. Substantial experience within the court arena. You will require knowledge of the latest policy and guidance around children’s social care and safeguarding. A strong understanding of financial and resource management. Be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, a head for complexity, and know how to improve service.
