We’re looking for a Financial Controller to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our business. Working closely with the Group Finance Director, this hands-on position spans operational finance, management accounting, and wider business support, helping to guide decisions with robust, insightful financial information. It’s a role for someone who brings both technical expertise and commercial acumen, supporting colleagues at every level and ensuring the Group’s financial practices remain strong, efficient, and compliant. Location : Nightingale House, Taunton - This is a hybrid role with an expectation of being in the office a minimum of 3 days per week. Salary : £55,000pa - £65,000pa DOE Reports : This position has 1 direct report. What you will be doing: Support the Group Finance Director in driving financial performance through value-added insight in management reporting, analysis, quality financial and non-financial information. Key member of the senior finance team, responsible for day-to-day management of the reporting and transactional functions. Advise and support Directors in meeting their statutory regulatory obligations, policy and contractual practices. Responsible for Group accounts, all statutory returns, deadlines and Group VAT Returns. Financial Analysis of clients, suppliers and competitors. Liaising with HMRC, Companies House, accountants, auditors, bankers, financial advisers and other organisations. Responsibility of managing the group audit. Develop systems and processes to improve quality and timeliness of financial reporting, including the implementation of Power BI data reporting for key business channels. This will also include supporting on to be confirmed software implementations to better enable budgeting, forecasting and consolidation. Lead the process of continuous improvement of the financial and management accounting systems to make sure they are used in an optimal way. Manage and develop the Group Finance team and reporting function Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and reforecasting process. Offering financial support and challenge to capital projects around the Group. Manage the Group cashflow reporting process ensuring that reporting is accurate and insightful as well as being responsible for the delivery of key banking documents. Assist with the management of Group tax matters, including the execution of tax projects which include but are not limited to transfer pricing, group restructuring exercises and other taxes. What we need from you: CA/ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified Excellent understanding of transactional financial matters Knowledge of legal and statutory requirements Excellent working knowledge of financial systems Knowledge of financial processes and procedures Experience in people management Great communication skills Previously held the position of Financial Controller.
