Overview
We are excited to announce the opening of a brand-new Outpatient Pharmacy at Musgrove Park Hospital and are looking for a qualified Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy services.
In this role, you will lead and supervise the day-to-day operations of the dispensary, ensuring a smooth workflow and full compliance with GPhC standards. You will be responsible for accuracy checking prescriptions, including outpatient and blister pack medications, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and legal compliance. You will manage and support the pharmacy team, including dispensers and trainees, fostering a positive and high-performing environment. Working closely with pharmacists, you will review standard operating procedures, monitor key performance indicators, and implement risk management strategies. You will also oversee stock control, ordering, and distribution to ensure medicines are available when patients need them.

Main duties
* Dispensary Operations: Supervise and manage day-to-day workflow in the outpatient pharmacy.
* Accuracy Checking: Complete final accuracy checks on prescriptions, ensuring legal and safety compliance.
* Dispensing for discharged patients: Dispense and check blister pack prescriptions for discharged patients.
* Record keeping: Maintain accurate records and monitor workload to ensure safe levels.
* Staff supervision: Line manage pharmacy dispensers and trainees, including rotas, appraisals, and wellbeing.
* Deputising: Act as deputy for the Outpatient Pharmacist during absences.
* Training: Support training and induction of new staff.
* Quality & Compliance: Adhere to GPhC standards and maintain ACPT accreditation; review SOPs with the Outpatient Pharmacist; monitor near misses and incidents and provide training as needed.
* Stock & Distribution: Manage stock rotation, ordering, and controlled drug records; liaise with procurement to resolve shortages and minimise wastage; ensure shop floor stock complies with legal requirements; participate in risk assessments and maintain a clean, safe environment.

Essential requirements
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Accredited Checking Technician qualification.
* Strong organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and lead a team effectively.
* Previous experience in a pharmacy setting.

Salary: £31,049 to £37,796 a year. The salary advertised is based on working 37.5 hours/week.
