Estimator / Senior Estimator (Civil Engineering)
Manchester / Glasgow / Edinburgh (Hybrid)
£60,000 – £90,000 + Car Allowance + Discretionary Bonus + Private Medical + Pension + 25 Days Holiday
An excellent opportunity to join a £1bn+ infrastructure contractor delivering major civil engineering projects across the UK. Operating across highways, rail, marine and energy sectors, the business has a strong pipeline of secured work and continues to invest in its Civil Engineering division. This role sits within a pre-construction team, working closely with the Estimating Director and Bid Managers to deliver high quality tender submissions across a range of infrastructure projects. You will be involved in the full estimating process, from initial enquiry through to final submission, with the opportunity to work on complex, multi-million-pound schemes. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced Estimator looking to broaden their exposure across multiple infrastructure sectors within a stable, well-structured contractor.
Key Duties:
* Reporting to the Estimating Estimating Director
* Preparation of detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects
* Review and analysis of tender documentation and contract conditions
* Pricing Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and temporary works
* Preparation of subcontract and supplier enquiries
* Conducting site visits and supporting bid strategy
* Risk identification and preparation of adjudication reports
* Liaising with Bid Managers and wider project teams
* Supporting timely submission of tenders
Experience Required:
* Experience working as an Estimator within a civil engineering contractor
* Strong understanding of infrastructure projects (highways, rail, utilities or similar)
* Experience pricing BoQs and managing tender processes
* Commercial awareness with the ability to assess risk and opportunity
* Strong communication skills and ability to work within a bid team
* Experience using estimating software – Causeway would be ideal
* Willing to commute to a local office – either Manchester, Glasgow or Edinburgh – 3 days per week
