Job Introduction
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable HSEQ Advisor to support the delivery of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards across the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) East contract within Sodexo.
This is a key regional role, working closely with the HSEQ Manager, Operational Managers and client stakeholders to ensure compliance, drive continuous improvement, and embed a strong Zero Harm culture across a diverse and geographically dispersed portfolio of sites.
The role involves a balance of field-based inspections and audits, alongside reporting, training, and stakeholder engagement, contributing to the safe and effective delivery of Soft FM services across the contract.
Job Purpose
* To provide competent and proactive HSEQ advice and support to managers and front-line teams across the MOJ East region
* To ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, food safety standards, environmental requirements and Sodexo policies
* To support the HSEQ Manager in driving a Zero Harm mindset, improving safety performance and promoting best practice
* To assist in the delivery of audits, incident investigations, reporting and training to support continuous improvement across all operational sites
Key Responsibilities
* Promote and support a Zero Harm culture, driving continuous improvement in safety behaviours and performance
* Conduct HSEQ and Food Safety inspections and audits across multiple sites to validate compliance
* Provide clear and practical advice to managers on health, safety, environmental and food safety responsibilities
* Support and assist in incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions
* Review audit and investigation reports and ensure all actions are tracked and closed out effectively
* Support the delivery of HSEQ performance reporting and KPI analysis for regional management review
* Assist with environmental and sustainability initiatives including waste reduction and food waste programmes
* Deliver and support HSEQ and Food Safety training to operational teams
* Maintain and update site specific documentation, procedures and safe systems of work
* Engage proactively with client stakeholders and maintain strong professional relationships
* Act as deputy for the HSEQ Manager when required
* Travel across the MOJ East region as required to support operational delivery
Accountabilities
* Drive measurable improvements in HSEQ compliance and safety culture across the region
* Support reduction of lost time incidents and improve near miss reporting ratios
* Ensure all incidents, accidents and near misses are reported, investigated and closed out within required timescales
* Deliver an effective programme of audits and inspections meeting validation targets
* Provide accurate and timely HSEQ reporting and performance analysis
What You Will Bring
Essential
* Experience in an HSEQ or SHEF role within a soft FM or service based environment
* Working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
* Level 3 Food Safety qualification or equivalent
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence at all levels
* Ability to work independently, manage workload and meet deadlines
* Experience in audits, inspections and incident investigations
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
* Ability to challenge behaviours and promote a positive safety culture
Desirable
* NEBOSH General Certificate
* Level 4 Food Safety qualification
* Membership of IOSH, IWFM or similar professional body
* Experience delivering continuous improvement initiatives within HSEQ
